How It Works

Club Representation

All clubs are provided with a Club Portal to invite their players to participate in the eCup league which will last 5 weeks and culminate in a final championship in Week 6. All players will play under the banner of their respective home club, representing your team officially in the eCup league. Players will play from home and participate in 2 scheduled matches per week (approximately 1 hour total of play). Winning players and winning clubs will be acknowledged and celebrated on the state association's website.
Players will be required to own a copy of the video game featured in the league or tournament they join, as well as a compatible device to play the game.  Players must have an online subscription to their gaming device to allow for online play.  Each league and tournament will have different software and hardware requirements, so please check the details on your specific league or tournament page.

Who Can Participate?
Participants are assigned to different divisions according to their age groups. For the initial league players between the ages of 13-19 may participate in the following age groups:

  • Girls 13 - 15 years of age
  • Boys 13 - 15 years of age
  • Girls 16 - 17 years of age
  • Boys 16 - 17 years of age
  • Girls 16 - 17 years of age
  • Girls 18 - 19 years of age
  • Boys 18 - 19 years of age
  • 12 years & under, (Players under the age of 12 are subject to Child Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA) guidelines and the GDS team is working to assure full compliance prior to offering U12 programs.  The goal is to launch U12 programs this summer.

 Score Reporting
Both players have the responsibility to report the final score by using their mobile devices to take a picture of the match results and uploading it on the portal.

Player - Player Communication
Players will be able to communicate with one another via a secure app to reschedule games in case of emergencies or unexpected family commitments.  All player and league communication is monitored by league commissioner and league administration to ensure appropriate conduct and safety.
Registration
Esports players will register and be vetted via an Affiliate-led verification system like their current grass-playing contemporaries.  The esports players will register annually as an intramural player, extramural player or as an elite level player. For the purpose of esports, the registration designation of “intramural” means esports players playing other players within their own club; the terms “extramural” means gamers playing other extramural players within their registered state, and the term “elite” level player will be for esports players playing in interstate, national and international competitions
Parents are welcome to register and connect their account to the child’s account.  Information required for registration include an email address, age, club name, zip code, console type, (Xbox or PlayStation) and phone number.
